Writing and Language
Writing is thinking, and you will be doing a lot of that in sixth grade. You did a strong, effective job organizing your Charlotte Doyle essays and citing evidence to back up your thesis.
Now we will have a bit more fun with our writing. For example, you will write a short piece in which you personify fear.
Remember, the key to all writing is the revising and editing that comes after that first draft. Part of revising will be replacing general words with more specific words. Part of editing is the correct use of capitalization and commas. AND, you will need to pay attention to your verb tenses. If you write one paragraph in the present tense, do not change midway to past tense. This has been happening a lot!
